The still life drawing was a study on how to hone my technique. I feel somewhat disatisfied with how it turned out, but it's a major improvement to how it started out. this was my first time doing a still life, and one of my first time trying realism. it's very hard for me to portray a 3-D form into a 2-D shape.

Process
I was given a object to sketch and charcoal to sketch with. this object was a deer skull. I set it up at an angle which allowed me to view a large majoritity of it and show some interesting shadows.
I first started out by rubbing vine charcoal, which is a very thin and light charcoal, so that the page had a base. Next I took a few minutes to make a rough sketch of the out line of the skull. there was minimal details, but there wasn't supposed to be much because it was a outline. After that I added some details such as shadows from where the bones protuded using condensed charcoal which gives a darker color then the vine charcoal. out and bits that look more like indents. it appears more like the reference while still being very rough.
I then use my finger to smooth the egdes to attempt to get rid of any outlines of the object. I also smooth out the shadows so they don't look as sharp to better match the real shadows. I then add details to image, making the lines darker, make the shadows look a bit darker to emphasize the comtrast of light.

After getting a bit of help from a friend, I relized I messed up and had the indent to far forward, so I adjusted it to a spot that was more acurate to the real skull. I made the contrast as big as I felt it needed.
